March was originally the very first month of the Roman calendar but is actually the third month of the Gregorian calendar. This month is also observed as a potentially raucous month filled with many transitions. A tree called the Alder is considered to be very protective in a time of deep transition and this reminds us to remain flexible. The four-leaf clover is considered to be a perennial legume and is listed in the same plant family as the pea, beans and peanuts. Yet, the clover has been poorly branded as a weed over the years. The four- leaf clover has always been associated with St. Patrick’s day (March 17th) and with the “luck of the Irish” since this rare leaf is more abundant in Ireland than any place in the world.
